End of Watch: August 15th, 2021
On Sunday, August 15, 2021, Sgt. Ryan Proxmire of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office was killed in the line of duty by a fleeing felon. His untimely passing left the Kalamazoo community, his fellow officers, and his loving family devastated. To honor his legacy, the "Ryan Proxmire Memorial Fund" was created, in an effort to have some good come out of this tragedy. All money raised thru this fund are forwarded to the Fraternal Order of Police Kalamazoo Lodge 98 to be used in the training and education of new recruits and existing Law Enforcement officers.
Ryan was honored for his service in May of 2022 in Washington DC during National Police Week. The National Law Enforcement Memorial is pictured above. Ryan's name is inscribed in this memorial, with thousands of others, for all to see and honor. His service to his community will never be forgotten.
